Go Do Make!

Hello! Welcome to Couch Surfer Crochet!

A few weeks ago we finished the Block A Week 2019 blanket project! I immediately went to work on creating my next Crochet Along. I’m currently in the designing and “making” stage so I can have all of the pattern notes written out and ready to go! The next CAL will be a “mixed stitch” pattern.

My very first CAL was called the Mixed Stitch Blanket, and I loved that idea so much that I decided to create a new version! That CAL should be ready to start in September!

However, I’ve written this post to share with you the project I’ve been working on since I finished the Block A Week. I had ordered a dress form so I could start creating crochet clothes! I shared on Instagram the festival top I made for a friend of mine to wear to Bonnaroo this year, and it really motivated me to learn more clothing patterns!

If you’d like to have one of these festival tops, you can order one from my Etsy store. Each one is fully customizable in any colors and sizes you might need!

The dress form is made of super soft velvet so it won’t snag any of those precious stitches!

After I finished the festival top I wanted to make one of those gorgeous, lacy sweater tops I have seen all over Pinterest! For my first attempt I decided to try the Moonlight Mist pattern from DROPS design. You can find the pattern right here!

The pattern calls for an edging row of puff/bobble stitches, but I chose not to do that round because I liked the way it looked laying flat. This piece is so pretty and soft in person. I used 3 cakes of Caron Cakes in Cherry Chip. I did choose to “cut” the yarn for color changes because I wanted the stripes to match on each arm, but I’m sure it would be beautiful if you just let the self-striping yarn work it’s magic!

That design across the back is stunning! If you decide to make one of these, I’d love to see it! I can picture it in so many different colors!
