Stash Buster Granny CAL – Week 2

Welcome to Couch Surfer Crochet!

We are now on Week 2 of the Stash Buster Granny Square Crochet Along! If you are just now joining us, check out the INTRO POST.

This CAL started on October 8th and will run through November 12th. I wanted to be able to do the entire project start to finish before the holiday season really sets in on us and we run out of time for side projects! Weeks 1 – 4 we will be creating a certain number of squares. Week 5 will teach you how to join them all together. And Week 6 will teach you how to add a border to give it a nice finish!

You can join in on this Crochet Along at any time! Just make to sure to visit the previous weeks to make those squares for the finished blanket!

Stash Buster Granny CAL Intro

Hello and welcome to Couch Surfer Crochet!

I’m ready to introduce my newest Crochet Along: The Stash Buster Granny CAL!

I’ve been working like crazy to get this project finished so I can share with all of you! I ran a poll in the Couch Surfer Crocheters FB Group to see if people preferred a shorter (and smaller) project that lasts 4 weeks, or a full size blanket that will last 6 weeks. The majority picked the 6 week full blanket option. I’ve now got the plan in place and am ready to introduce this new Crochet Along to the world!

Color Inspiration for Fall

Hi Crocheters!

Fall is literally right around the corner! I wanted to make a quick post today to share with you some of my favorite “fall color” combos! Sometimes I have a hard time deciding which colors to use together for my next project, and I find that images like this can really help me.

For each photo I have listed the closest yarn colors I could find. I live in a pretty small town, so my only craft store option is Michaels! For that reason, I’ve stuck to Red Heart and Loops & Threads Impeccable yarn colors. Of course any brand of yarn will work for you, just find the colors that match up as close to these combinations as possible.

Yarn Colors
(from left to right)

Grenadine
Flame
Thyme
Honeydew
Grass

My mother-in-law recently got married, and she had a very similar bouquet to this one. Don’t you love those “pops” of bright colors!?!

Free Crochet Patterns for Baby

Hello all! I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer!

I’ve been absent from the blog a lot longer than I wanted to be, but for good reason! I’ve been working lots of overtime at my day job to help pay for some home improvements, and I’ve gotten a lot of crochet orders from my friends lately. It seems like everyone I know is expecting a baby at the same time, so my hands have been very busy making precious tiny things!

Free Crochet Pattern Roundup – Hats & Beanies

Hello everyone! I’m sorry for the long break between posts. Once we finished the Changing Chevrons Crochet Along, I went straight to work dreaming up and planning another one. I hope to have an announcement ready really soon for the next Crochet Along for this blog!

I’ve also done a little “upgrade” to the blog. Everything you love is still here, but I hope I’ve streamlined it and made it all a little easier to navigate! And I am now optimized for mobile, so you don’t have to worry about the header getting in your way whenever you scroll on a mobile device.

If you are just now hearing about the Changing Chevrons CAL, don’t worry! All of the weeks are always available on the site. A downloadable PDF of the entire CAL will be available soon. Congratulations! We have made it to the final section of the Changing Chevrons Crochet Along! Many of you have shared your progress in the Couch Surfer Crocheters Facebook group. It it always so fascinating to see one pattern recreated in so many different colors! After seeing all of your work I have found some new color combinations I want to try out!

I’ve had a few people express interest in making their blanket longer after this week. I will share a few ideas on how to do that at the end of this post.

Changing Chevrons CAL – Week 7

This is Week 7 of the Changing Chevrons Crochet Along! Thank you for joining me on this project! Creating this pattern was really fun, and I love seeing all of your versions!

We’ve worked our way up to Row 77. This week we will be doing Rows 78 – 90! We’ve got ONE more week to go! I can’t believe it. If you’ve enjoyed this project, please share with all of your crafty friends! I’ve had a few people ask about making their blanket longer at the end. In the final pattern post I will share the sections that “I” think you should repeat to make this blanket longer. Of course as always, it’s totally up to you! If there was a particular section you really enjoyed, do that one! Anyway…on to this week’s pattern!

Color Inspiration – Summer Color Combos

Hello! I hope you all are having a great summer so far! I have been spending some time relaxing with my family, and recently hubby and I put together a craft table for my “crochet room” in the house! I’m also brainstorming some yarn storage ideas currently, and if I come up with anything useful I will be sure to share it with all of you!

Memorial Day usually marks the “beginning” of summer around here. All the pools open, the lakes start getting crowded, and people generally get into the hot weather mood. Where I live it feels like it rained for entire month!

I was tired of the gray skies, so I wanted to look around for a few “summery” images to find some new color combinations. I’m always looking for new ways to group colors together (you never know what awesome combo you will end up loving)!

Here I’ve included a few photos, as well as the recommended yarn colors to match. Hopefully these will help you if you need a little bit of inspiration!

All the photos I found seemed to be kind of romantic, so I’m calling this the “Summer Love” series!

Medium Purple
Butterscotch

Soft Sage
Aruba Sea

Isn’t this floral centerpiece absolutely gorgeous! I bet that was a beautiful party!
