Hip to be Square Crochet Along!

Hello! Welcome back to Couch Surfer Crochet! Recently I shared with you my first ever Crochet Along project: The Mixed Stitch Blanket CAL! It was so much fun to work on! I really loved testing my creativity and seeing how my idea could be interpreted in so many different ways! I’ve had quite a few people ask me when will I be doing another Crochet Along? Well, have I got good news for you! I’m starting a new Crochet Along! This one will be called the “Hip to be Square” CAL!

Awhile back I had shared a new square pattern I created called the “Treble Starburst Square.” This square was the beginning inspiration for this new project! As I’m sure you could guess by the name, this blanket Crochet Along will be made using a whole bunch of different granny squares. The project will run for a total of eight weeks.

Each week for six weeks I will share the squares to be made for that week! At the end of the six weeks (technically Week 7), I will share with you how to join your squares. Week 8 will be adding a border to complete your work!

This Crochet Along will start on Monday, September 18th, with the new squares posted each Monday after that until we are finished! Each square is approximately 8″ square. When finished, the blanket will be approximately 60″ x 60″. It’s is big enough to fit across a queen sized bed.

If you want to match my finished blanket exactly, here is what I used for this project:

Hook size : I/9 5.5mm hook
Medium weight yarn : 6 colors

My colors are
Color A : Impeccable Lavender
Color B : Red Heart SS in Light Sage
Color C : Red Heart SS in Royal
Color D : Impeccable Yarn in Teal
Color E : Red Heart SS in White
Color F : Red Heart SS in Soft Navy

I used approximately 2 skeins for 3 of the colors (colors A, B, & C), 1 skein of Colors D & F) and around a half a skein for Color E (so you could use scrap yarns for that color if you choose).
