Go Do Make!

Slouchy Side Saddle Stitch Hat
(say that five times fast!)

Recently I shared with you all the Criss Cross Hat Pattern, and the Crochet Beret. I made both of those using Caron Cakes yarn in Blueberry Kiwi. When I was finished I still had around 1/3 of the cake left to use. I finally got around to doing just that! I had recently started a baby blanket using the Side Saddle Stitch, and I wanted to see if I could adapt that into a hat! This hat is worked from the brim up, so you get a good fit around your ears, but plenty of slouchiness in the back!

Stitches used in this pattern:

Ch: chain
Sc: single crochet
Hdc: half double crochet
Dc: double crochet
PS: Pattern Stitch (Side Saddle Stitch): sc into next ch 3, ch 3, 3 dc into same ch 3, sk next 3 dc
**to decrease** insert hook into next ch3, pull up loop, insert hook into each of the next 3 dc, pull up loops, insert hook into next ch 3, yo and pull through all 6 loops on hook, ch 3, 3dc into same ch 3

The side saddle stitch can feel a bit challenging at first, but once you get the hang of it this hat works up quick!
