Go Do Make!

Hello again!

I have had a few questions regarding the upcoming Hip to be Square Crochet Along. I wanted to write up a quick post to further explain the details of how this will work!

This blanket will be made of 36 squares in total, in a 6×6 grid. I ran a poll in the Couch Surfer Crocheters Facebook group to determine how to share the squares each week. I didn’t know if you all would rather grow your blankets row by row (doing a few different types of squares each week), or if you’d want to do all of one type of square at the same time. The vast majority of you voted to do all of ONE type of square for each week.

So…

Weeks 1, 3, and 5 will be the more intricate squares. Due to the more involved nature of the squares, these weeks we will be making 4 of each of these detailed squares. Every week I will share the patterns for these squares with step by step instructions and photos.

Weeks 2, 4, and 6 will be the simpler square patterns. Because these squares work up much more quickly, we will be making 8 of each of these simpler patterns. I will share how to complete these square as well.

Week 7 I will show you how to join all of these squares together in a specific pattern to complete this blanket. Week 8 will be the final touch of adding a border to complete your work.

I look forward to seeing all of your creativity! In the original post, I shared with you exactly which colors I chose in case you want to match my finished blanket. However! I know these squares will look amazing in any colors you might choose!! Feel free to explore any fun color combinations you can think of! Be sure to share with me in the Facebook group, or tag me on Instagram or Twitter!
