Hello! I hope you are all having an amazing January so far! It’s unseasonably warm (at least today!) here in Tennessee, so I thought it would be the perfect time to break out one of my lighter weight scarves. Last year I shared a yarn review for Caron Cakes yarn. I was so excited to try out self-striping yarn! Well…did you know that Red Heart now has their own line of self-striping yarns, appropriately called Red Heart Stripes?! They have some of the most amazing colors, and I couldn’t wait to try out a few of them!

Sparkly Serape – Crochet Pattern
Happy New Year!!!
Welcome back to Couch Surfer Crochet! I have missed all of you so much over this holiday season. I am so happy to be getting back in to the swing of things here on the blog! I couldn’t share any of the patterns I was working on in December because they were all Christmas gifts and I didn’t want to spoil any surprises, since everyone in my family sees all my blog posts.
I definitely got the BIGGEST response from my niece this year! Back in October I shared a photo on Instagram wearing one of my creations. I had been gifted this gorgeous sparkly metallic yarn and I knew I wanted to make something that I could wear. So I sat down and worked up a quick and easy granny stripe poncho. I wore it to a family event, and my niece went crazy for it! That’s when I had my light bulb moment. Why not make one for her in different colors!?!
I secretly asked her mom what her favorite colors were, and she said purple and teal. I knew I could make something beautiful with those colors! I added a silver yarn to complete the striping pattern.
