For Week 3 we are doing a beautiful square called More V’s Please by MoCrochet! It looks like this when finished:

Whenever I use another designer’s square I will ALWAYS follow copyright rules and intellectual property requirements. Since this square was originally part of the Block A Week CAL in 2014, it is copyrighted to it’s original designer! I am using this project in part to try new things and introduce you all to new designers! I want to make sure everyone is properly credited and attributed for any work they have done!

I will share my step by step photos for this pattern, but I am not able to share each step of the pattern. Please click the link to see the pattern! You can also download the pattern on Ravelry for easy access! You can also see lots of color combinations on the Ravelry page by other members that have created this square. The original design was done all in one color and it stunning. I personally like to make my squares super colorful, but part of the fun of a project like this is making each square however you want to!

2019 Block-A-Week : Week 1

Hello and welcome to Couch Surfer Crochet!

Since a new year has just begun, I’ve decided to start a fun project that I can work on all year long.I love making crochet squares of all types. I am fascinated by the way you can take simple stitches, put them together in unexpected ways, and have the most interesting looking square when you are done! I’ve done two different Crochet Alongs using squares. The first one, the Hip to be Square blanket, used the basic granny in addition to a few squares of my own design. The second CAL, the Stash Buster Granny Square blanket, used basic granny squares with specific color placement.

I thought about doing the “365 Days of Granny Squares” challenge, but I know I would get distracted somewhere along the way and get frustrated, so I’m simplifying that to ONE a week and only picking my favorite squares! I plan to do ONE square each week and at the end of the year make all of those into a unique and interesting blanket! Each square will be 12″. Some of the squares will be my own design, and some I have found online!

Since the New Year starts in the middle of the week, I will be posting my weekly granny squares on Fridays. I won’t have video tutorials available for each of those at first, but I do hope to get there soon!

Simple Scraps Throw Crochet Pattern

Welcome back to Couch Surfer Crochet! I hope you all are doing well. This winter the flu seems to be everywhere, which is just another good excuse to stay inside and crochet! A few weeks ago, I shared an adorable photo of my dog claiming one of my WIPs (works in progress). I had so many requests for the pattern for the blanket I was working on.

I previously shared a few ways to use up your yarn scraps if you have really small amounts of yarn. I wanted to figure out what to do with those “medium” balls of yarn you wind up with after finishing a project.

Beautiful Boxes Scarf Crochet Pattern

Hello! I hope you are all having an amazing January so far! It’s unseasonably warm (at least today!) here in Tennessee, so I thought it would be the perfect time to break out one of my lighter weight scarves. Last year I shared a yarn review for Caron Cakes yarn. I was so excited to try out self-striping yarn! Well…did you know that Red Heart now has their own line of self-striping yarns, appropriately called Red Heart Stripes?! They have some of the most amazing colors, and I couldn’t wait to try out a few of them!

WEEK 4

I’m so happy to share another granny square pattern with you! This week we are back to working on more intricate squares, so we will be making 4 squares. When I decided to start this I looked for inspiration all around me. I named this blog Couch Surfer Crochet because I am always watching TV or movies while I crochet. It’s a great way to relax! This week’s square was inspired by my love of the TV show LOST! One of the recurring images in the show is the Dharma Initiative logo. It looks like this:
