Crochet Mask Saver Pattern

Free Crochet Pattern Roundup – Hats & Beanies

Hello everyone! I’m sorry for the long break between posts. Once we finished the Changing Chevrons Crochet Along, I went straight to work dreaming up and planning another one. I hope to have an announcement ready really soon for the next Crochet Along for this blog!

I’ve also done a little “upgrade” to the blog. Everything you love is still here, but I hope I’ve streamlined it and made it all a little easier to navigate! And I am now optimized for mobile, so you don’t have to worry about the header getting in your way whenever you scroll on a mobile device.

If you are just now hearing about the Changing Chevrons CAL, don’t worry! All of the weeks are always available on the site. A downloadable PDF of the entire CAL will be available soon. Sign up for the newsletter by entering your email at the top right of the page and never miss an update from Couch Surfer Crochet!

Simple Scraps Throw Crochet Pattern

Welcome back to Couch Surfer Crochet! I hope you all are doing well. This winter the flu seems to be everywhere, which is just another good excuse to stay inside and crochet! A few weeks ago, I shared an adorable photo of my dog claiming one of my WIPs (works in progress). I had so many requests for the pattern for the blanket I was working on.

I previously shared a few ways to use up your yarn scraps if you have really small amounts of yarn. I wanted to figure out what to do with those “medium” balls of yarn you wind up with after finishing a project.

Hip to be Square CAL – Week 6

OMG…You guys!!! We are now on the last week of squares! We are going back to basics again this week. We will be making 8 squares of the basic granny square pattern just like we did in Week 4, but we are going to be using a different color for the main block to create the pattern at the end when we join. Here’s how the squares look before the join so you can see in the pattern why we are doing two weeks of the same type of square!

WEEK 2
WEEK 3
WEEK 4

I’m so happy to share another granny square pattern with you! This week we are back to working on more intricate squares, so we will be making 4 squares. When I decided to start this I looked for inspiration all around me. I named this blog Couch Surfer Crochet because I am always watching TV or movies while I crochet. It’s a great way to relax! This week’s square was inspired by my love of the TV show LOST! One of the recurring images in the show is the Dharma Initiative logo. It looks like this:

Hip to be Square CAL – Week 3

shattered circle granny square crochet

Welcome to Week 3 of the Hip to be Square Crochet Along! If you are just joining us, you can find Week 1 HERE, and Week 2 HERE.
We will be doing one of the more intricate squares this week, so we will be making 4 squares.  I’ve decided to call this square the Shattered Circle Square because of the ring of double crochets look like pieces of the circle exploding outwards!

As a reminder, I’m using a size I/9 (5.5 mm) hook, and worsted weight size 4 yarn.

We will be making 4 of these squares. Because I tend to love symmetry in my projects I have decided to make all of the squares each week in the same color sequence. But I want you all to feel free to fully express your creativity however you want in this blanket! I shared the colors I chose in the announcement post if you’d like to follow along with me exactly. In my color palette, I have chosen to use Color D (Impeccable Yarn in Teal) as the last row of each square.

Hip to be Square CAL – Week 2

Welcome back to the Hip to be Square Crochet Along! Last week we did 4 squares of the adapted Treble Starburst Square. This week we will be making 8 squares! This pattern is much simpler. There are no color changes in this square (except the final row if you are following the same color sequencing as I am). If you don’t think making a bunch of squares is for you, check out the Mixed Stitch Blanket CAL. It’s done in rows with lots of stripes!

I’ve decided to call this square the Solid Spaces Square. I like how every other row kind of look like stepping stones. It’s a little more textured than a traditional granny square, but the pattern is easy to repeat once you get the hang of it!

Hip to be Square CAL – Week 1

Hello and welcome to the first Week of the Hip to be Square Crochet Along! I am so excited to share this project with all of you. I hope you enjoy making this blanket!

Not too long ago I shared the pattern for a crocheted square I had created. I called it the Treble Starburst Square because of the shape in the center. I knew I wanted to create something using that square but at the time could not decide what in the world that might be. I set it aside for a little while so I could finish a few customer orders, and one day the idea came to me! I knew it would be a great accent in a blanket made with a few different types of squares.

Stripey Scarf Pattern

Stripey Scarf Pattern

Welcome back to Couch Surfer Crochet! Today I want to share a cute scarf pattern with you! One of my friends is getting ready to travel for awhile, and she’s going to be going to some cold places! I wanted to make her something cute and warm that she could take along on her trip! She loved the look of my Three Color Baby Blanket, so I decided to use that same pattern to make her a scarf!
