Go Do Make!

Welcome to Couch Surfer Crochet!

Fall is now fully upon us here in East Tennessee! It is so lovely during the day, but man! The minute the sun goes down the temperature drops fast!

One of my dear friends got married in October a few years ago and it was my honor and privilege to make her a shawl to wear over her wedding dress. During the day the weather was absolutely perfect, but it did get very chilly after dark. I was so happy to make this piece for her! It fit in perfectly with her autumn decor. She purchased her wedding dress through a couple of creators on Etsy, so she truly had a one of a kind wedding day!

See how perfect that looks?!?! I was so happy with the final result, and I love knowing that I was a small part of this very special day!

The pattern is called the Dew Drops Shawl. You can find it on ilikecrochet.com. The original is made with a lacier weight yarn and smaller hook.

I used Red Heart Soft yarn in Wine and a 5.5mm hook. I wanted to make sure the yarn was thick enough to be warm, but would also still be lacy and drape nicely.

This made it a little bigger than the original pattern, but she requested it to be a little longer, so that worked perfectly. You may want to adjust accordingly for your desired fit.

Here she is with her awesome new hubby! The shawl works so well with that dress. Look at all the detail on that skirt! I loved it so much. It was perfect for her and perfect for the day. Congrats to the new couple!

Here’s a more close up photo of it on my mannequin at home. This gives you an idea of how gorgeous it is! I’m definitely making a few more of these in other colors.

Thanks for coming to Couch Surfer Crochet! Happy crocheting! 🙂
